What I don’t understand is why society is willing to learn the proper pronunciation of names such as Schwarzenegger, Gyllenhaal, DeGeneres, and McConaughey, but when it comes to names like “Quvenzhané” it’s too long, too ghetto, or any other degrading excuse that these lazy English tongues can come up with. It’s all part of the eurocentric standards that the media has ingrained into our subconscious minds. Anything that isn’t European is weird, shameful, and inferior, right?
Her name is Quvenzhané, say it right! Challenge eurocentrism.
